Who We Are

Market Equity was founded in 1992 in Perth to meet the needs of businesses seeking high quality, strategic information and advice. The highly awarded business grew to become one of the largest private consultancies in Australia and New Zealand before being acquired in 2005 by the London Stock Exchange listed global media conglomerate Aegis PLC. 

The business strategy and market research operations of Market Equity were subsequently integrated into Synovate, which rapidly became one of the largest global market research businesses in the world. As part of this transition, the founder of Market Equity, Brent Stewart, became a global CEO responsible for overseeing a workforce of some 6,000 employees in over 100 offices throughout the world. Synovate later became the global brand Ipsos as part of a merger in 2012. 

Upon his retirement from the business in 2011, Mr Stewart relaunched Market Equity as a corporate advisory and strategic consultancy to assist high growth businesses with their progression, funding and exit strategies. In this capacity, the business has successfully managed numerous successful engagements with highly profitable outcomes for its clients and their shareholders. 

What We Do

Market Equity provides a limited range of services to select clients on an exclusive basis. In corporate advisory, Market Equity assists clients with M&A transactional support, structuring, funding and related corporate advice at a Board and CEO level. 

In terms of strategic consultancy services, Market Equity advises on all facets of company strategy, corporate and business planning and organisational development. 

Although the business has a rich history of experience with a wide variety of clients and industries, Market Equity frequently partners with businesses and individuals within its network to provide specialist expertise and/or depth of resources for clients when required. 

Who We Serve

Market Equity has provided strategic consultancy services to a wide range of clientele from small businesses through to large multinationals. The company has advised many of Australia and New Zealand's leading businesses and government instrumentalities in virtually all industry segments. 

In terms of corporate advisory, Market Equity's typical client profile are medium to large, privately held SME's that are owner/operator or founder led in the $10-150M turnover range. 

Market Equity has a strict policy of exclusivity whereby it will not provide services to or invest in competitors of its active client base.

How We Engage

Market Equity seeks high engagement opportunities with clients who are committed to growth and value realisation in business. As such we act for a limited number of clients at any one time to provide a true partnership approach whether this be on a fee or investment basis. Corporate advisory services typically involve a combination of success fees and retainer arrangements with the potential for co-investment at the client's discretion. Strategic consultancy services can either be negotiated on a retainer basis or fee-for-service for discrete and hoc projects.
